The Simpsons is a long running animated series produced by James L. Brooks for the Fox broadcasting Company. The animated series was created by Matt Groening, the show features a satirical parody of an American lifestyle presented using an eponymous family. The family presented by Groening are named after the names of his own family, where his name is replaced with Bart. The series premiered on December 17, 1989 and has already broadcasted a total of 468 episodes.

The Simpsons family is composed of Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie. The family lives in the fictional town of Springfield. Homer works for Springfield Nuclear Power plant as a safety inspector. He is married to Marge, who is your typical American housewife and mother of three children. Bart is a ten year old trouble maker, Lisa is the eight year old activist and Maggie is the baby of the family who seldom speaks but uses her pacifier as means to communicate. The family has a dog named Santa’s Little Helper and a cat named Snowball V. The show revolves around the everyday lives of the dysfunctional family but then features how their relationship and bond gets stronger.
Dan Castellaneta performs as the voice of Homer Simpson. His voice is also used for the characters of Abraham Simpson, Krusty the Clown, Barney Gumble and other male adults featured in the show. Julie Kavner performs to bring to life to the character of Marge Simpson. She also voices Patty and Selma and other minor characters featured in the show. Nancy Cartwright voices Bart Simpson, Ralph Wiggum and other children characters. Yeardley Smith voices Lisa Simpson. Smith is the only cast member who voices only one character, though there are instances where she performs for the voices of other episodic characters. Hank Azaria voices various recurring characters like Moe, Chief Wiggum and Apu. Harry Shearer does the same with the characters like Mr. Burns, Principal Skinner, Smithers, Ned Flanders, Reverend Lovejoy and Dr. Hibbert.
